1st Day, Friday: Panama City
Arrival in Panama City and transfer to the Hotel Torres de Alba.
2nd Day, Saturday: Panama City Tour
Long city tour through Panama City. You become acquainted with the historical and modern side of this versatile city. In addition you will visit the museum of the very interesting Panama Canal and enjoy lunch at the "Mi Pueblito". In the evening you have dinner at the restaurant Las Tinajas including a folklore demonstration.
3rd Day, Sunday: Panama City - El Valle
Today you visit the market El Valle. A 80 miles trip from the capital to El Valle leads you first along the Pacific before you come to San Carlos and drive up the mountain direction El Valle. El Valle is a small mountain village with a very pleasant climate. At the El Valle market you can admire all regional products such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, stone soaps, ceramic articles, hand-made wooden baskets, wooden furniture, etc. You can also visit the museum.
4th Day, Monday: Panama City - Emberá - Panama City
In the morning you will drive up north to the Lake Alajuela. There you jump into small boats which will bring you up the Rio Chagrés. A fascinating jungle will accompany you on this boat trip. Visiting the Emberá Indians, you experience an authentic view into thousands of years old culture and tradition of humans, already before the Europeans were there. You will inevitably be set back a few hundred years.
5th Day, Tuesday: Panama City - Colón - Portobelo - Panama City
Early in the morning you will take the train on the historical and original railway from Panama City to Colón. This 1-hour trip leads you through the jungle and along the Panama Canal. After the the beautiful train trip, you drive from Colón to the port of Portobelo. This port was the gathering point of the Peruvian treasures in the 15th century. These were shipped there towards the metropolis of the empire, and in addition, it was the centre of control and inspection of the goods, which arrived from Spain. The ruin complex is built and set up in the middle of the tropical jungle and covers a set of fortresses, castles and military bases. After this visit you enjoy a Caribbean lunch before you head back to Panama City.
